Carolyn is an attorney, community advocate and leader dedicated to improving the quality of life of New York City residents. As Ms. Walker-Diallo has extensive experience practicing law in the public and private sectors, her integrity, compassion and commitment to equality under the law uniquely positions her as a leader in the legal profession and in the community at large.

Carolyn started her legal career as a litigation associate at the Wall Street law firm of Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy LLP where she represented Fortune 500 companies and international banks in contract disputes, arbitration and government investigations.  Carolyn’s desire to obtain trial experience led her to join the New York City Office of the Corporation Counsel as a labor and employment attorney where she defended the City of New York, its agencies and high-level employees in cases brought under various federal, state, and city laws. Carolyn’s work included appearing as lead trial counsel in federal and state trials and administrative hearings, and serving as lead attorney in settlement negotiations.

During Carolyn’s formative years, she witnessed her parents play an active and committed role in the East New York Community.  In 2009, Carolyn continued the family tradition of “being the change we want to see in the world” when she took the helm of a small nonprofit named after her father, The George Walker Jr. Community Coalition, Inc. (“GWJrCC”).  GWJrCC provides an array of youth development and community services, including, the first ever East New York Youth Court.  During this time, Carolyn also served as an Administrative Law Judge with the New York City Office of Administrative Trials and Hearings (OATH).  As an Administrative Law Judge, Carolyn conducted hearings and wrote decisions in cases involving alleged violations of local laws and the rules and regulations of the City of New York.

Carolyn’s commitment to ensuring that her passion for the law continues to serve a greater purpose led her to join Brooklyn Community Services (BCS) as its General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer. In this capacity, Carolyn serves on the six-member Executive Team and advises her executive colleagues and Board members on the legal and regulatory issues that impact the agency.  Carolyn handles all legal matters involving BCS, consults on employee issues, conducts several trainings for over 400 employees annually, gives presentations to elected officials on behalf of BCS, as well as monitors and develops BCS’s compliance program.

In addition to serving as First Vice-Chair of Brooklyn Community Board 5, Carolyn also serves as Board Chair of The George Walker Jr. Community Coalition, Inc., Board Member and immediate past Secretary of the East New York Restoration Local Development Corporation.  She is a proud member of Gamma Gamma Chi Sorority, Inc., the first Islamic-based sorority for Muslim women.  She is also a loyal member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., the oldest Greek-lettered organization established by African-American college-educated women.  Carolyn is a trained mediator and arbitrator.

Carolyn attended and graduated from public schools in East New York Brooklyn.  She received a Juris Doctor from New York Law School, a Master of Business Administration from the Zicklin School of Business at Baruch College, and a Bachelor of Arts degree, cum laude, in Business Administration and Political Science from The Lincoln University in Pennsylvania.  She currently resides in Brooklyn, NY with her husband, Thierno Malal Diallo, a teacher, and their 11 year old daughter, Mariama Diallo.
